Athens, Georgia is home to some of the world’s most popular bands, hosting hundreds of shows each year. Whether a group sells out the biggest theaters in town or plays a house show for a rag-tag group of friends, music serves as the lifeblood of this creative epicenter.

These images depict two vastly different sides of Athens music scene: a sold-out show put on by Barns Courtney at the Georgia Theater and an album cover shoot for a local band made up of hopeful college student. All talented, all passionate, all serving their life’s purpose of putting more joy into the world.
